Dr. Chris K. Kiptoo, CBS is the Principal Secretary (PS) for the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. He was reassigned to this Ministry by H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta in January 2020. Prior to this new assignment, Dr. Kiptoo was the immediate Principal Secretary, State Department for Trade in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives. He held the docket since December 2015.

Dr. Kiptoo has a lot of passion for environmental conservation. He has been leading the efforts to rehabilitate and conserve the Kaptagat Forest ecosystem through the planting of trees in line with the national goal of increasing Kenya’s forest cover to above 10%.

Dr. Kiptoo is a self-motivated and seasoned economist with strong analytical and interpersonal skills and demonstrable managerial and leadership experiences. He holds several qualifications including a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in International Macroeconomics Finance Specialization – from the University of Nairobi. He is also an Accredited Fellow of the Macroeconomic & Financial Management Institute of Eastern & Southern Africa (MEFMI), in the field of macroeconomic management. He is also an Associate of Kenya Chartered Institute of Bankers.
